I AM NOT A ROBOT

PRACTICE: Name an unhealthy habit that you would like to discontinue.

When I respond to a comment on this blog, I am often asked to verify that I am not a robot. Do you get that too? Then I am directed to identify from a gridded picture – traffic lights or cars, or crosswalks etc. Sometimes I am required to do more than one grid of things before the site allows my comment to be added to the site. Why is that necessary?

Robots can only do what they have been programmed to do. They can’t make choices that are not previously programmed into them. Not knowing what grid is coming means no set program. Robots carry out the wishes and instructions of their creator. When I correctly follow the random instructions, I am classified as human. As a human, I have freedom of choice.

To be honest, there are areas of my life where I sometimes wish I didn’t have the freedom of choice. Why? The choices made do not always serve me well and I find myself having to live out the consequences of the choices.

I would love for the principle of “no choice” to be in place around some desserts and or salty crunchy snacks. “Oh, wait a minute, this can be my reality.” Here is one example where “NO Choice” could start long before I am standing in front of the snack cabinet. It could start in the grocery store when I decide to venture down aisle 7 labeled snack and beverages to see what is on sale. I have the freedom of choice right then and there, to be human and not go down the aisle or I can become robot-like and follow the self- implanted program of looking, then buying the crunchy salty goodness that is on sale. The decision at the point of purchase has the potential to determine the outcome at the point of craving and availability.

I AM NOT A ROBOT – I AM HUMAN. Robots do what they are programmed to do -no choice. I am human – freedom of choice. I can choose to reprogram myself for the success that I want to see. This is true for snacks, desserts and fried chicken. This is true for relationships, health, spiritual development and physical outcomes.

PONDER THIS THOUGHT--- The choice is free. The consequences can be costly.
