SEEDS

Seeds fascinate me. From a tiny mustard seed to the flat disc-shaped watermelon seed, they are a miracle just waiting to happen. A single seed holds the future of something capable of sustaining and promoting life beyond itself. A seed never looks like or feels like what it is to become. I can carry a handful of watermelon seeds in my pocket. I cannot carry a watermelon in a pocket. What the seed is to become is present in the seed. This is true of any vegetable or fruit seed. It is true of the female egg and male sperm as they collide in the mother’s womb or test tube. It is true of your future.
Your desires and dreams are the seeds of your future. Our future is shaped by the cultivation of our seeds.
I purchased morning glory seeds in late spring. Unless the purchased seeds had been removed from the glossy packaging featuring a picture of what they were to become, they could have remained morning glory seeds for years– alive yet dead to their potential. I wanted the miracle of a green flowering plant, so the seeds were removed from the package, sowed in soil, watered, and exposed to sunlight.
The seeds of your future are no different. You and I have everything necessary within us right now for our God aligned dreams and desires to reach their full potential. Self-discovery and a recognition of that fact can be the scissors that opens the package sealed tightly with the glue of any number of things. Knowing is not planting. With self-determination and help from others, let’s sow our seeds in fertile soil, water lightly regularly and wait for them to sprout. Don’t forget to feed and expose the dreams and desires to sunlight (wisdom and encouragement of others). Prune dead leaves, get rid of the weeds that seek to choke out the dreams (negative thoughts and negative people) regularly.
At the appropriate time, the strong healthy foliage will reward us, our environment and any persons that enters our life with beautiful blooms and the fruit that has been produced.
I waited all summer for the morning glory to bloom. I was rewarded September 10, 2022, my oldest friend’s birthday.
Ecclesiastes 11:6
PONDER THIS THOUGHT --- Seeds are miracles to be discovered.
