HOLDING PATTERN 7 PRACTICES DAY 3

Much of life is spent in a holding pattern. In the world of aviation, a holding pattern means that the current flight path of an aircraft is maintained within specific airspace until permission to land is granted.

Many of us spend years in some form of a holding pattern. We are waiting for permission to land and implement a dream. We are going around and around in circles. We wait for the other party to end a dead relationship. We wait for the proper alignment of the sun, moon and stars to move from a dead-end job. We wait for a catastrophe to happen before changing a lifestyle. We wait and wait and wait for some invisible permission to land and to start the journey that is ahead of us.

Unlike the aircraft waiting for the air traffic controller’s permission, most often the only permission needed is the one we need to give ourselves.

Sometimes all that is required is a move outside the space in which we have been moving.

I am going to be more intentional about identifying those place where I have been in a holding pattern and giving myself permission to land. What do you have in a holding pattern? What are you going to do about it?
